FAQs

Answers To Your Important Questions

Children of parents who are or were incarcerated will be eligible if they are between the ages of 10 and 25. Here at Enai Foundation we don’t need any paperwork or proof of your conviction. It’s just a short conversation, and we put your child into the United States on a youth mentor that we’ve matched to their needs.

Reuniting with a loved one after incarceration can be incredibly difficult, and usually it’s not a seamless process. The reentry and reunification support program at Enai Foundation is created for exactly this occasion. We support both the returning parent and the child individually before we meet them together; when both are truly ready.

Absolutely. Grandparents and other family members that take responsibility for the child are among those least recognized in this circumstance. The Enai Foundation’s family/caregiver counseling program provides special attention to grandparents, aunts, uncles and older siblings caring for children of incarcerated parents throughout the U.S.

Never. At the Enai Foundation, the shame and stigma which children of incarcerated parents carry is taken very seriously. All the staff, mentors and counsellors with whom we work are trained to provide a safe space for children in which they feel seen – not labelled by what their parent has done.

There are various options for participation. If you want to become a youth mentor, volunteer at one of our events, or just let people know about our trusted youth support programs for children of incarcerated parents in the United States, you can apply to do so! Use the contact form above to complete and we’ll help you down the right path.
